Hyun Bin Dishes on New Romantic Comedy ‘Crash Landing on You.'
South Korean actor, Hyun Bin, shared about his next role, as a North Korean soldier, in the drama "Crash Landing on You."
The 37-year-old star dished on his desire to take on a lighter role as Lee Jung Hyeok in this upcoming comedy.
"In recent years, I've mostly played characters who fiercely struggle to achieve their goals," Hyun Bin said in a press conference in Seoul. "I've wanted to act in a lighter and more casual drama, and finally met this one. I'm pleasantly working on it."
Hyun Bin, best known for his role in "Secret Garden," played a North Korean soldier previously in the 2017 film "The Confidential Assignment."
"It's very similar in the characteristics of military personnel, who should be grave and solemn, both in 'The Confidential Assignment' and 'Crash Landing on You,'" he said.
"But in the new drama, it shows other sides of Jung-hyeok in his everyday life. He's innocent, unworldly and even clumsy sometimes."
Hyun Bin stars opposite Son Ye Jin in "Crash Landing on You." Son plays Yoo Se Ri who crash lands in North Korea while paragliding.
"I think I'm very cheerful and airy, but people don't see me this way as I've played characters with some heavy or melodramatic images," Son said. "Se-ri is very jaunty, positive and carefree. Now I've found the character that almost fits me."
"Crash Landing on You" is Hyun and Son's second time co-starring in a project after "The Negotiation" last year.
