Hallyu Stars Song Hye Kyo & Park Bo Gum Kick Off Filming Of New K-Drama 'Boyfriend'
Cameras have started rolling for the much-awaited television comeback of two of the most sought-after Korean stars today-Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum. Park's agency, Blossom Entertainment has confirmed that the actor and Song have begun filming on September 2 for the K-drama Boyfriend.
Some photos of the Song and Park first day of filming were shared by some fans on social media sites. Song was spotted filming at Dongguk University while Park was seen onboard a bus. Check out below some of the photos of Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum filming for the new Korean drama.
Boyfriend tells the story of politician's daughter, Cha Soo Hyun (Song Hye Kyo), who falls in love with an ordinary man, Kim Jin Hyuk (Park Bo Gum), following her divorce from an heir of a large conglomerate. Their fateful meeting will be the start of a beautiful but sad romance that will also affect each other's lives.
Song Hye Kyo was last seen in Descendants of The Sun which aired in 2016. She took a break from acting after she tied the knot with DOTS co-star Song Joong Ki. Park Bo Gum, on the other hand, was recently seen as a part-time employee in the second season of Hyori's Homestay. His last K-drama was Love In The Moonlight which aired in 2016.
Hye Kyo's husband is expected to visit the set location of Boyfriend to check on his wife and also to catch up with Park. Aside from being represented by the same agency, Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Gum are close friends in real life. It can be recalled that the two were tagged as the "crybaby brothers" after Bo Gum specifically mentioned Joong Ki as his acting mentor when he received the Top Excellence for Actor during the 30th KBS Drama Awards in 2016.
Meanwhile, Block B member P.O. has been cast in K-drama as Park Bo Gum's character younger brother. P.O acting debut kicked off in Temperature of Love last year. So far, tvN has yet to announce other cast members of Boyfriend. Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum had their first script reading for the new drama on August 23.
Boyfriend will be pre-produced. It is set to premiere in November in a Wednesday-Thursday timeslot on tvN.
