'This Is Us' Season 3 Kicks Off Filming; Chrissy Metz & Creator Dan Fogelman Share Their Thoughts

'This Is Us' Season 3 kicks off filming, while Chrissy Metz and creator Dan Fogelman share their thoughts about the first day on set. Photo by This Is Us/Facebook

All cast and crew of This Is Us Season 3 are heading to their set location as filming for the third installment has officially kicked off. Some of the cast members and showrunner Dan Fogelman confirmed that they are back on set.

This Is Us star Chrissy Metz shared how excited she is to come back on set. She even compared it to her first day of school. On Instagram, the actress posted a photo of her brown hair adorned with an elegantly designed hair clip. The snap was taken during Kate and Toby's wedding in the Season 2 finale. "Tomorrow we officially start shooting season three of @nbcthisisus! Y'all, it feels like the night before the first day of school!" Metz wrote.

Metz, who plays the role of Kate Pearson, is not the only cast member who is excited to return to the set. Young star Faithe Herman (Annie Pearson) is also looking forward to their first day of filming.

Additionally, Fogelman celebrates the start of Season 3 filming in his post on Twitter. Fogelman jokingly said he was going to start stress eating once the cameras start rolling. Many fans understand Fogelman's situation because of the high expectation on the upcoming season following the success of the first two.

Metz and co-star Mandy Moore (Rebecca Pearson) previously warned fans to brace themselves for a certainly tear-jerking Season 3 pilot. The two revealed that they had read the script for the premiere episode and Moore said it is "not for the faint of heart."

This Is Us Season 2 ended with some flash-forwards scenes of the Big 3. Kevin (Justin Harley) was seen traveling to Vietnam. Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca's No. 1 son is possibly looking for some answers about his father's past, particularly during Jack's time in the war. Kate, on the other hand, seems to be dealing with her husband's depression.

As for Randall (Sterling K. Brown), he was seen talking to grown-up Tess. Randall told his daughter that its time to see a woman whom they are both not ready to see.

Fogelman previously confirmed that some of the series' finale scenes were already filmed. The creator said they already have an idea of how the story of the Pearson family will end. He, however, assured the fans that it is still far out in the future.

This Is Us Season 3 will return in its original time slot, Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The third season premieres on September 25 on NBC.
