Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum are set to make their comebacks in the upcoming series Boyfriend. Despite avid fans happy to see their favorite stars in a new project, several netizens slammed the two celebrities' onscreen pairing.
After more than one year out of the limelight, Song Hye Kyo will soon return to the small screens with one of her husband's good friends as her new co-star. The Descendants of the Sun actress and Park Bo Gum have recently confirmed their participation in the drama Boyfriend. Given how the two stars' will portray lead characters who will eventually fall in love with each other, several netizens were unhappy with the latest casting news.
Some netizens highlighted the age gap between Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum, according to comments posted on Soompi. The actress is in her mid-thirties while the Love in the Moonlight star is still in his mid-twenties. Describing the said Boyfriend onscreen couple as "odd" and "weird," some netizens also stated that seeing Park Bo Gum kissing his best pal Song Joong Ki's wife might be "a bit awkward."

In the upcoming drama Boyfriend, Song Hye Kyo will play the role of Cha Soo Hyun who is the daughter of a prominent politician. She then meets a man from an average family who will question her beliefs about love and happiness.
Meanwhile, Park Bo Gum will portray the male lead role in Boyfriend named Kim Jin Hyuk. The said character is a simple and innocent man who works hard at his various part-time jobs while looking for full-time employment. Splurging on an overseas trip that took him one year to plan, he encounters a special woman who will turn his world around.
Boyfriend is expected to premiere in the latter part of 2018. The drama is currently in the pre-production stage with ongoing negotiations for a potential tvN broadcast.
