Fans of the anime series are probably one of the luckiest and happiest anime fans alive. While fans of other anime series sometimes wait for years before the next season arrives, Overlord fans have the enviable luck of being served two seasons in the same year.
While Overlord Season 2, which aired its finale on April 3, 2018, is still fresh on everyone's mind, the third season is almost here. In what is probably the shortest in-between seasons hiatus in anime history, the Overlord Season 3 release date is already slated on July 1, 2018.
That's a mere three months of waiting. That short period between seasons is way better than the gap between seasons 1 and 2 where fans had to wait for almost three years before the second season arrived.
Overlord Season 3 Key Visuals, Additions
The production team behind the anime series also released a key visual for Overlord Season 3. It shows the all-powerful Ainz Ooal Gown/Momonga in all his glorious skeletal self, complete with the usual glowing red lights inside his sockets. It looks like fans are in for another season of top-notch action and fierce magical battles as Momonga triumphs over all other powerful existences with the use of strategy as well as extraordinary spells and items.
Overlord 3's Twitter account also announced that there will be two new additions to its cast. They are Takahiro Sakurai who will be voicing Gilkunif and Takaya Hashi will be voicing Fulder.
The Overlord anime series was created by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. In the year 2126, Massive Online Role Playing games become very popular. The anime is set inside one of these games called Yggdrasil.
The Yggdrasil game became popular for a while but, after a 12-year run, the game's developers decide to finally shut down its serves. Feeling a bit sad for the shutdown, Momonga, the in-game name of the lich leader of the strongest guild in the game called Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to play the game one last time until the servers are shut down.
Unfortunately for him, "Momonga" is mysteriously trapped inside the Yggdrasil game. In his search for other trapped players, he has to battle powerful enemies using magic spells and physical attacks. Fortunately for him, his guild used to be the strongest of them all so there is no lack of high-tiered weapons, techniques, and even strategies.
