‘Attack on Titan’ Season 3 Release Date: Bigger Season Starts This July, Plot To Cover Uprising Arc
AoT fans would unanimously tell anyone who cared to ask that longer is definitely better as far as the anime's season length is concerned. Thankfully, everyone will be getting just that - a longer Attack on Titan Season 3 - which also means that this seasons' storyline will be even bigger.
AoT Season 3 Twice As Long As Second Season
While fans were overjoyed when the second season finally released, they quickly realized that their joy will be short-lived. AoT Season 2 was surprisingly a very short season with only 12 episodes. The series only lasted for a mere three months before running out of episodes, which is not enough to satiate fans who have been faithfully waiting for years for its return.
Thankfully, Attack on Titan Season 3 will be different this time as it will be twice as long as the second season. YonkouProductions announced on Twitter that the anime series will have 24 brand new episodes in total. For comparison, that is just one episode shy of season 1's record-topping 25- episode run.
But still, a 24-episode AoT Season 3 is reason enough for celebration. Released on the usual weekly basis, the anime will have enough material to last for 6 blissful months, which is way better than the second season's short three-month run.
Attack on Titan Season 3 Release Date
But here's something even more exciting. The months of waiting is almost over as Attack on Titan Season 3 will arrive in less than three months, proving previous speculations that the gap between seasons 2 and 3 will be a lot shorter than the gap between the first and second seasons.
The AoT Season 3 release date is already slated this coming July 22, 2018. That means that fans will only need to endure another couple of months of waiting. At just 13 months, this in-between season gap is certainly the shortest by far. Previously fans had to wait for almost four years before Attack on Titan Season 2 premiered. The first season ended on September 29, 2013, while the second season arrived on April 1, 2017.
Uprising Arc
In addition, Funimation recently dropped a new Attack on Titan Season 3 trailer, which gave a few hints on the season's plot. In the brief clip, Levi talked about the notorious killer "Kenny the Ripper," a real person which Levi had lived with when he was still a kid. This suggests that season 3's plot will feature the Uprising arc of the manga series.
