BTS 2018 Update: V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin, J-Hope Promise Very Special Performance With New Song At 2018 Billboard Music Awards
BTS will make another history as V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and J-Hope will be the first k-pop group to grace the 2018 Billboard Music Awards' stage this May. The "DNA" hitmaker announced they will be performing at the coming musical event on their social media accounts on Tuesday, April 24.
"Look out for our second appearance or - say what? - FIRST PERFORMANCE at the BBMAs!" BTS announced on Twitter in English. They, too, said the similar thing in Korean and gave their biggest gratitude to their fans, the ARMY, for their continued support.
"Thank you ARMY for making our performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards possible," they added. They then teased their fandom should wait and see as they are about to show a lot on their performance. BTS also shared the news on their Instagram account and revealed how excited they are to perform at the event.
According to Billboard, BTS is once again nominated for the Top Social Artist award after the group won the said honor in 2017. And to complete their appearance, they will be performing the world premiere of their new song. This might be from their latest album, Love Yourself: Tear, which will be released two days before the 2018 Billboard Music Awards takes place.
It has been reported Billboard Music Awards was the first American award show BTS attended. Aside from winning and being nominated for Top Social Artist once again, V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin, and J-Hope got their first Top Ten album for Love Yourself: Her as a part of Billboard 200 chart. Their song, "Mic Drop," was also included on Billboard Hot 100.
In an interview with the group at the time, BTS told E! News they felt crazy as the first American award show they attended happened to be Billboard. "The name is really huge for us," they said. Although the South Korean boy band is getting known in the foreign country, RM said it is something that they can "never get used to."
Hence, BTS' performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards is expected to be very special. This year's BBMA will be held at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20, at 8 p.m., and will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson. It will be broadcasted live on NBC. Tickets for the annual event are now on sale.
