ColourPop’s New Line Named After EXO Song Titles: Is It A Coincidence Or Not?
The cosmetic brand ColourPop took the social media by storm. Founders and siblings Laura and John Nelson made a decision to market their products specifically via social media targeting the millennial audience. It worked. The brand garnered a million followers over the years.
ColourPop x EXO?
Recently, fans of the K-pop group EXO noticed that the brand might also be a fan.
It all started when a fan pointed out that one of the new ColourPop super shock shadows was released. A pressed powder shadow was named "Cloud Nine" and a super shock highlight is named "Monster."
They also have an ultra-matte lipstick named "Mama" and a lux lipstick called "What If."
Apparently, these names are EXO song titles.
Not A First
Some Kpop Idols have teamed up with famous cosmetic brands over the years. In 2017, Wanna One collaborated with Innisfree for their Volcanic Color Clay Masks.
It's Skin, on the other hand, has collaborated with Got7. Their mask sheets are graced with the faces of the group members. You can get this at Hot Topic or at a K-beauty store near you.
Nature Republic Real Nature Mini Mask pays tribute to EXO's The Power of Music album repackage. Each member of the group is designated to a specific star ingredient. For example, Baekhyun is made with Aloe while Chanyeol is rich in antioxidants.
There is also the VT x BTS Collagen Pact, a full-coverage foundation that will help brighten your skin. The bonus? Buying one get yourself a free BTS poster.
Whether or not ColourPop is actually a fan of EXO, the cosmetic brand just took this particular cosmetic line to another level. The brand will clearly benefit from being associated with one of the most popular K-pop groups all over the world today.
