‘Rick and Morty’ Season 4 Uncertain, Creator Admits Show Hasn’t Been Renewed
A sad news for Rick and Morty fans, the show creator has confirmed that the animated TV series hasn't been renewed for Season 4.
Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon has revealed that Adult Swim has yet to give the show the green light for another season. Harmon replied to one angry fan who called him "lazy alcoholic" and blames the creative team for not working on the fourth season. The showrunner explained that no work has been done for Season 4 because Adult Swim has yet to order it.
"I hear ya, tough spot. On one hand, it can be challenging, especially with crippling lazy alcoholism, to write a show that hasn't been ordered by a network. On the other hand, the thought that fans like you pay the price... I mean... I'm gonna grab a drink," Harmon wrote in response to a fan tweet.
Many are wondering why Adult Swim hasn't renewed the series considering the network had previously said Rick and Morty Season 3 has been a hit and it broke rating records. Based on the response of fans on Harmon's tweet, it is also unfathomable to them that the network wouldn't renew the series for another season.
This is not the first time that the delays in Rick and Morty have been raised. Season 3 was released two years after the second season. Then earlier this year, series writer Ryan Ridley spoke up and revealed that Season 4 might not be ready until late 2019.
"They really take their time. I never understood why everybody - all parties, Dan [Harmon], Justin [Roiland], and Adult Swim - didn't get their shit together, and make the show fast. I just don't get it. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm sure they all have their reasons," he told Detroit Cast.
While it is expected that Rick and Morty will be renewed eventually, it looks like fans should be prepared for a long wait for its return. For the meantime, fans can quench the Rick and Morty drought with the new music video of Run The Jewels' "Oh Mama."
Run the Jewels Rick and Morty Music Video
Adult Swim has dropped a music video of Run The Jewels' "Oh Mama", which featured Rick and Morty. The video shows the duo clad in Men in Black-esque attire as they embark on intergalactic adventures. First, they arrive at a club and attack a group of evil Gromflamites to secure a mysterious briefcase. Then they tortured a young Gromflamite before a bloody battle between the two fan-favorite protagonists and the Gromflamites.
The American hip-hop duo will be featured in Adult Swim Festival in Los Angeles on October 6-7. The festival will showcase comedy and music performances, panel discussions, interactive gaming, and more. Organizers are expecting around 15,000 fans to attend the live event each day.
