Meghan Trainor Reveals She’s a BTS Army, Calls 'Mic Drop' Hitmakers as One Direction of K-Pop
American singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor has been known as the woman behind the music of some known American artists but her talents go beyond the U.S. She has disclosed that she writes songs for some Korean artists and also confessed that she is one of the BTS Army.
Trainor was asked in an interview if she has interest in the K-pop songs like wrestler John Cena who recently admitted that he loves K-pop. The singer admitted that she is indeed obsessed with K-pop and she even wrote music for Korean singers.
"I used to write for K-pop! All my songs were so cheesy and poppy that they were like 'Rihanna won't like this but k-pop will love it! I'm obsessed with them I love everything about K-pop, my friend was a superstar there. He was this American boy from LA and K-pop loved him!" the "All About The Bass" hitmaker told Metro.
When asked about her favorite K-pop group, Trainor said she is part of the BTS Army. She added that she wishes to do a coloration with the group.
"They're the One Direction of K-pop. I'm down to working with them! You think I'm not down? I'm down! 'BTS hit me up!" Trainor exclaimed.
Meghan Trainor Rose to Fame
During her teen years, Trainor independently released three albums that she wrote, recorded and performed herself. In 2013, she and producer Kevin Kadish penned "All About That Bass." However, various record labels rejected her song and refused to have their artists do the recording.
This forced Trainor to record the song herself and performed it on the ukulele for Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid in February 2014 that led her to sign a deal with the label. "All About That Bass" was released on June 30, 2014, and its music video became a viral hit. It became the number one song in 58 countries and declared as one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Trainor cemented her name in the industry when she released her debut studio album, Title, in 2015. The album peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200. It also produced three Top 10 singles for Trainor - "All About That Bass", "Lips Are Movin," and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" - and the rest is history.
She has written songs for a number of acts, including Hunter Hayes, Rascal Flatts, and Sabrina Carpenter. She also collaborated with John Legend and Charlie Puth. Trainor recently dropped her latest track, "No Excuses," her first since "I'm a Lady" for the animated film Smurfs: The Lost Village.
Meanwhile, Trainor is in the headlines this week after she appeared on This Morning on Thursday, a day after an epic TV gaffe that involves her song, "All About That Bass." On Wednesday, Trainor's hit single was accidentally played over a tribute to the late Stephen Hawking. This Morning has been slammed for playing the part of the song where Trainor says "skinny b***hes" as the show is having a tribute to Hawking.
