Science Guy Bill Nye to Appear in ‘Blindspot’ Season 3 as Himself, Could Be One of Patterson’s Secrets
Blindspot Season 3 is getting geekier. TV personality Bill Nye will appear in the ABC crime drama and he will actually play as himself. He will be the father of the geekiest character in the show - former FBI Agent Patterson.
Nye confirmed the guest appearance himself in a post on Twitter. Further details on Nye's storyline are being kept under wraps, but apparently, he will appear in the show later this season. Nye is best known as the host of PBS' Bill Nye the Science Guy. He is also currently hosting Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix.
In the upcoming Blindspot episode, Patterson's (Ashley Johnson) dad could be just visiting his daughter and she will introduce him to the team. Since Patterson has been known to have a great interest in science and technology, having a father like Bill Nye is not actually surprising. The only question is that why hasn't she talked about him considering he is one of the most famous science men in television? That could have something to do with their past. Patterson may have a strange relationship with her dad and that could be the reason why she is not using his last name.
What Could Be Bill Nye's Role in Blindspot Season 3
Since Nye confirmed his appearance in the drama series, several speculations about her role started to circulate. Is Nye coming in to help the team solve one of Jane Doe's (Jaimie Alexander) tattoos? Or is he the subject of the tattoo? Either way, fans are definitely excited to know to learn about his involvement with the squad.
When the current season hit the screens, Patterson and the rest of the team, except for Reade (Rob Brown), have left the FBI and have been working in different agency or offices. Patterson is working with a tech company. Zapata (Audrey Esparza) joined the CIA. Kurt (Sullivan Stapleton) is looking for Jane, who is in hiding to protect her husband from assassins seeking to collect a bounty on her.
They all return to the FBI in New York, which Reade is now heading, to help solve Jane's new tattoos. As they solve the inks one by one, the secrets of the team members that they want to keep hidden started unraveling. In one episode, Patterson and Rich Dot Com's (Ennis Esmer) secret as members of an anonymous hacktivist group, the Three Blind Mice, almost got out almost putting their lives in danger.
Now with Bill Nye coming, is he one of Patterson's hidden secrets?The show has yet to offer details of Nye's personality as Patterson's dad. However, the synopsis of the upcoming episodes, titled "Everlasting," suggests that the former FBI Forensic Science Unit head will investigate a tattoo but it will result in a horrible incident. Apparently, Patterson will try to figure out what went wrong, but she will quickly realize that all is not as it seems.
Blindspot Season 3 airs Friday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
