LG 'Judy' To Sport AI-Powered Camera And A New Type of Display Panel
LG is definitely not giving up yet. The South Korean-based company is set to release their next flagship device that allegedly bears a codename, "Judy." LG "Judy" will integrate decent features, including a 4 GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and likely an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) living inside its camera.
"Judy" could be the fruit of the orders of the LG Electronics chief to completely revise what many believed to be the successor of the G6 mobile device.
During last month's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), vice chairman and CEO of LG Electronics, Jo Seong-jin, reportedly told all working-level officials to halt any recent development for a new LG smartphone and review everything from the ground up.
The decision came after the South Korean-based company saw another loss in their mobile division, making it their 11th consecutive deficit. The pressure to make the division profitable might have been great so much so that Seong-jin said they will only "unveil new smartphones when it is needed," The Investor reported.
There were also plans to rebrand the G series, citing Apple and Samsung to have done the same thing. And it seems they are heading in that direction.
A person who reportedly has knowledge of LG's plans tipped VentureBeat a couple of details about the development of LG "Judy" and he said that the phone has a brand new design.
The tipster said the next LG flagship phone is going to sport a larger 6.1-inch, 18:9 Full Vision display compared to the G6's 5.6-inch screen. The screen will also come with a new type of display called MLCD+ panel, allegedly capable of high, 800-nit brightness (similar to light emitted by 800 candles in a square meter room).
As a complement for the Snapdragon 845 and the 4 GB of RAM, "Judy" will be capable of storing files as large as 64 GB.
Arming it with a 16 MP dual rear camera that has glass optical elements, f/1.6 lenses, and a high dynamic range of HRD10 is also said to be in the pipeline.
Just like the premium LG V30, "Judy" will have a military grade standard durability that could withstand water, dust, and impact under an IP68 ingress protection.
Other features include wireless charging, voice recognition, and a digital assistant.
As for the release date, "Judy" is scheduled for unveiling in June this year.
