BTS Rumored To Attend 2017 MAMAs In Hong Kong
Love to see more of BTS? An exclusive report from Ilgan Sports said the chart-topping boy group is attending the 2017 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards). Soompi said for this year, MAMAs will be held also in Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Japan from November 25 to December 1. The boys are expected to attend in Hong Kong on December 1.
BTS is currently up for four major awards. They are currently nominated for the Best Male Group, Best Dance Performance Male Group, Best Music Video, Qoo10 Song of the Year, and Qoo10 Artist of the Year categories. Last year, BTS nabbed the coveted Artist of the Year daesang, as well as Best Dance Performance Male Group. It is unclear whether the group will be performing at the said event. The Hong Kong event though will be part of the awards ceremony.
Nonetheless, BTS' presence at the 2017 MAMas culminates a great year for the group, who is currently experiencing success on the global stage. The group's mini album 'Love Yourself: Her' is in its fifth week on the Billboard chart. The album is no. 86 on the Billboard Top 200, which ranks the most popular albums in the US. 'Love Yourself: Her' is also currently enjoying the top spot on the World Charts. It is also sitting comfortably at No. 24 on the Canadian Albums chart and no. 25 on the Independent Albums. The first hit single from this album, 'DNA,' is at no. 85 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. The group remains at no. 1 on the Social 50 chart and is at no. 18 on the Artist 100 chart.
'Love Yourself: Her' is the most successful one to date for the group when compared to BTS' previous albums. The hit 2016 album "Wings" and repackage album "You Never Walk Alone" lasted on the Billboard 200 for two weeks.
