Kim Soo-Hyun To Enlist On Oct. 23
Kim Soo Hyun, the heart-throb of many hearts, announced his enlisting date. The 29-year old actor will join the military on October 23.
The news was disclosed by the 'Dream High' actor through his agency. "Since the actor is just fulfilling his duties as a Korean citizen, he wishes to enlist quietly without a fan event or a press conference," quotes Soompi.
The actor pledged to enlist this year, but several speculations were being made that his plans may change. Massive commercial and critical failure of his recent action thriller movie 'Real' were considered the main reason for this rumored cancellation.
Kim Soo became the favorite of every young heart, after his appearance in 'My Love From The Star'. The show is a romantic fantasy series of an alien who falls in love with a top actress in the modern era. The lead female role was played by Jun Ji-Hyun, who is also known as Gianna Jun in the Korean film industry.
The series was a major hit in South Korea and later received immense popularity across Asia. Jun also went on to win awards for his performance in the show. Daesang (Grand Prize), the highest award for television was also bagged by Kim at the Baeksang Arts Awards. The romantic series also influenced the Korean fashion to some extent. The clothes, accessories and make-up products worn by the actress of the show were in great demand the Koreans.
According to the Korean Herald, all physically fit Korean men, aged between 18 and 35 are required to serve in the military for two years. During this service to the nation, some are also allowed to serve in the non-combat position. Korean women are also allowed to enroll but in Reserve Officers' Training Corps. Before taking his military duties, Kim expressed to work in one last gig before enlisting.
