Former 4minute member Jeon Jiyoon, now known as Jenyer, has been opening up about life without an agency, her feelings about the group's disbandment and her current relations with the other 4minute girls. Jiyoon/Jenyer has been doing various interviews as the solo artist fearlessly promotes new single "Hello (feat. Kisum)" on her own.

"Hello" was released as a digital single on September 12. It was accompanied by a stripped-down music video, available on YouTube, that presents Jenyer in a live performance of her new song. The single dropped only a few days after Jenyer announced her split from Robin K Entertainment.

"Hello" was co-written and produced by Primary and Taylor Parks, featuring lyrics by Dynamic Duo's Choiza and rapper Kisum. It's a song about a girl saying "hello" to a guy who feels shy about approaching her, notes K Music. The track had originally been intended as a single for the 4minute sub-group 2Yoon, but despite repeated production attempts, it never worked out well enough to be released.

Having left her last agency, Jenyer has been basically alone in doing promotions for the new single. In a recent interview to Korea Joongang Daily, she confirmed that she intended to keep managing her music career on her own without the support of an entertainment agency. "Perhaps because I was thinking about it for quite some time, acting alone wasn't as hard as I thought it would be," said Jenyer.

In another interview, she talked about her sadness over the break-up of 4minute last year. Jenyer explained that while the members' exclusive contracts had been set to expire, they were expecting to re-sign with Cube. But of the five members, only Hyuna got a new contract. Jiyoon, Jihyun, Gayoon and Sohyun all got cut, and that was the end of 4minute. "We weren't thinking about disbanding...and when we saw the reports of disbandment, we thought, 'Ah, so that's what happened,' and calmly started tidying things up," she said, according to Soompi.

Jenyer also spoke about getting together with the other ex-4minute members to do things like having dinner. She said that they were more than friends, they were family and there was no bad blood between them.
