'Vikings' Season 5: Will Floki Die?

Vikings Season 5

History's "Vikings" is changing. Last season, the critically-acclaimed period drama killed some of its core cast including its hero, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). In Season 5, no one is safe.

Some speculate that Lagertha (Katherine Winnick) will be the next warrior to fall, but viewers should worry about Floki in the upcoming season. Gustaf Skarsgard, the actor who plays the role of the boat-builder, has already joined the cast of "Westworld" Season 2.

Deadline reported that together with "Tyrant" star, Fares Fares, and Betty Gabriel of "Good Girls Revolt," Skarsgard will recur in the next installment of the sci-fi/Western series. He will play the role of Karl Strand, a "white-collar guy comfortable in the field."

Of course, the actor's new role does not necessarily mean that he will depart from "Vikings" after Season 5. After all, his character, Floki, will etch his own name in history books after following his friend, Ragnar, around.

The boat-maker has a grand adventure ahead in "Vikings" Season 5. The death of his wife, Helga (Maude Hirst), led him to a journey across the sea only to discover a new territory no Viking has set foot before. In the upcoming season, Floki is expected to discover Iceland.

However, many fans expect that Floki, Lagertha and Clive Standen's Rollo will soon follow the fate of Ragnar. Now that Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen), Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) and their brothers have emerged at the forefront of the story, the drama now feels a little too crowded so expect a few major character deaths in the future.

Based on historical accounts, Floki, who sailed to the new territory with his family, settled in Iceland and live there until his death. The show created by Michael Hirst is a fictional account of real historical figures so fans should not expect a similar ending to the character's story.

"Vikings" Season 5 will premiere on Nov. 29. In the meantime, watch its trailer below.
