Frozen 2: Idina Menzel To Start Recording Voice Work For Elsa Soon
The Ice Queen is back! Idina Menzel is preparing to reprise the role of Elsa in "Frozen 2." In a new interview, the actor and singer confirm that she is set to go back into the recording booth and do voice work for the highly-anticipated animated sequel.
It has been almost four years since the original "Frozen" was released in theaters and broke box office records worldwide. Disney announced that the award-winning animated musical movie, based on a popular fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, will have a feature-length sequel in 2015. However, not much is known about the upcoming movie.
While Menzel is ready to record her lines as Elsa for "Frozen 2," the actor could not share many details about the project. Apparently, she admits to M Live that she has not even read the movie's script.
"I know I'm going to get into the studio for the first time in a couple of weeks," she shares. " I haven't seen the script yet. We've just gotten to that part in the process."
Of course, Menzel still has a lot of time to kickback and relax before diving back into work. Disney announced earlier this year that "Frozen 2" will be released on Nov. 27, 2019.
The reason why the movie is taking so long, according to Mezel's co-star Kristen Bell, is because Disney is handing "Frozen 2" with great care. In an interview with Collider last year, the actor explained that the team behind the animated movie would not just release something sub-par. They also wanted to find a story that is worth telling.
"Frozen 2" will also star Josh Gad as the sun-loving snowman Olaf. Jennifer Lee will return to direct the sequel.
In the meantime, Disney will release "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" later this year along with Pixar's "Coco." A Broadway musical based on the 2013 animated movie will premiere in New York on February 2018.
