However, the source did not specify if the update is planned to be released later this year or in the first quarter of 2018. Upcoming Sony Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact, and Xperia X1 are likely to debut with Android O version.
Android O 8.0 will deliver Project Treble to make software updates more convenient, improvement on the Doze Mode to keep apps on draining power while on standby, additions of gestures for the fingerprint scanner, autofill function on several apps, expanded customization on the Material Design UI, several changes on the notifications, new adaptive icons, Hi-Fi Bluetooth codecs to improve audio for Bluetooth headsets, removal of the Unknown Sources option in the Settings menu and improvements to battery life.
Sony Mobile is now rolling out the Android Nougat update for selected devices such as Xperia Z5, Xperia Z3 Plus, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia X, and Xperia X Compact. The company may continue to release Android Nougat for more devices or may proceed to skip in favor of Android O once it is available.
