‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Deleted Scenes: Jon Watts Reveals DVD Features
The DVD and Blu-ray version of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is expected to be released in October. Recently, director Jon Watts was asked about the deleted scenes of the Marvel superhero film that starred Tom Holland as the title character.
Very few scenes of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" were deleted, according to Watts. These deleted scenes will be put together on the DVD for the DVD features, the director said.
Fans cannot expect a big scene cut out and included in the DVD and Blu-ray version. Editing "Spider-Man: Homecoming" focused more on just figuring out how long or how short the film should be, Watts explained.
"There was maybe like one or two quick check ins with Michael Keaton that were redundant," Watts told Collider. "And there was one check in with Aunt May that was redundant that we got rid of."
What Watts promised is that there were deleted scenes from improv actors who built their own characters. In particular, the director said Martin Starr, who plays Mr. Harrington, did an awesome job.
Starr only needed to say one line or do a reaction shot for a scene. But because the actor was so good that Watts just let it played out and had a whole story that was just about the character and his former wife.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" was released in the United States on July 7. Among Holland and Starr's co-stars were Zendaya, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
It has also been confirmed that Watts will return to direct the sequel of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in 2019, Variety has learned. Also joining him in the sequel are his fellow writers of the original film namely Erik Sommers, Jonathan Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Chris McKenna and Christopher Ford.
The "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel is expected to outperform the original film, which earned $472.8 million worldwide. There are still no details about the cast of the sequel.
