'Vikings' Season 5 Spoilers: Clive Standen Confirms Rollo's Return; Hatches Own Plot To Avenge Ragnar?
One of the most interesting characters in History's "Vikings" Rollo will not allow himself to be sidelined when the show returns for its fifth season later this year. Instead, Clive Standen, the actor who plays the role, has teased that there are more explosive things to expect from Ragnar's brother and hinted that Rollo will be hatching a plan of his own.
According to a report by Screen Rant, Clive Standen has confirmed that he will be returning for "Vikings" Season 5 after speculations circulated online that he may leave the show to headline NBC's series "Taken." He said that when the show returns, fans of the show should expect something different from Ragnar's big brother and thanked "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst for this.
"Nearly every season, [creator] Michael Hirst has allowed me to reinvent this man, and Season 5 is no different," Standen said about "Vikings" Season 5." I think when he comes back, all bets are off... You'll see a very different Rollo."
Standen said that his character will be making an explosive return in "Vikings" Season 5 but not one that fans of the show would expect. In the first four seasons of the show, Rollo has battled with his internal struggle between his love and jealousy for his brother who has risen to become one of the greatest kings in Viking history. Rollo for his part has betrayed his own people to become the first Duke of Normandy, The Wrap reported.
Standen gave very vague hints that Rollo will have to deal with Princess Gisla when he returns to France after suffering through his midlife crisis and throwing caution to the wind. He said that in "Vikings" Season 5, he may even be devising his own revenge for the death of his brother seeing as he was not so involved in Ragnar's sons united attack against King Ecbert after their father's death.
