‘Ruler: Master Of The Mask’ Updates: Yoo Seung Ho Starrer Posts Record-High Ratings Following Story Twist
"Ruler: Master of the Mask" retained its lead over competitor primetime mid-week dramas such as "Suspicious Partner" and "Queen for Seven Days." The Yoo Seung Ho starrer even posted its highest nationwide TV ratings to-date with viewership shares nearly crossing the 15 percent mark.
With the MBC historical series set to cap off its 40-episode run in the coming weeks, "Ruler: Master of the Mask" continued to top the weekly TV rating race among Wednesday-Thursday primetime dramas. The recent episodes of Yoo Seung Ho's drama registered nationwide viewership shares of 11.9 percent and 14.4 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News. Released back-to-back on June 29, Thursday, Episode 31 also posted ratings of 11.9 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area, while episode 32 reached ratings of 14.6 percent.
The bump in nationwide TV ratings for "Ruler: Master of the Mask" episode 32 can be attributed to the exciting plot development that showed Sun's (Yoo Seung Ho) amazing recovery from a toxic brew including his valiant attempt to rescue the enslaved children working at Dae Mok's (Heo Joon Ho) poisonous poppy field. Viewers were also surprised with Hwa Gun's (Yoo So Hee) decision to burn the said field as part of her revengeful plans against her grandfather, as well as to help Sun and the children escape.
The impressive viewership shares that "Ruler: Master of the Mask" achieved marked the eighth consecutive week that Yoo Seung Ho's drama topped the mid-week TV rating chart. The MBC drama even bested Ji Chang Wook's romantic comedy suspense series and KBS' historical drama. "Queen for Seven Days" episode 10 posted nationwide ratings of 4.4 percent, while "Suspicious Partner" episodes 31 and 32 achieved nationwide ratings of 7.7 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, "Ruler: Master of the Mask" and "Suspicious Partner" both nabbed the top spots on Drama Fever's latest weekly Top 10 popular Asian series list. Yoo Seung Ho's drama came in at number two, while the Ji Chang Wook starrer landed at first place, according to a chart listing posted on the Warner Bros. owned video streaming site.
