Justin Bieber is featured on the December 2015 cover of Billboard. In the shocking interview, 21 year-old Bieber reveals that his once solid relationship with mom, Pattie Mallette, doesn't exist anymore. Bieber opened up about what caused the broken relationship.

Readers and fans of Justin Bieber were heartbroken when they heard of the singer's relationship with his mom, which he describes as "pretty nonexisting." However, Bieber admits that he was the reason their relationship fell apart.

"I was distant because I was ashamed," he shared in the Billboard interview. "I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was. We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust."

Mallette raised Bieber as a single mother and met with his father, Jeremy Bieber, on weekends and Wednesdays, Bieber says. However, his mom was a great supporter of his music aspirations.

Bieber says his mom is currently living in Hawaii, but has hope that they will reconcile soon.

"She's living in Hawaii now, so it's hard, but getting better. She's an amazing woman and I love her."
