‘Suspicious Partner’ Updates: Ji Chang Wook’s Drama Records Impressive 2049 Ratings, Beats ‘Ruler: Master of the Mask’
The TV rating competition between mid-week prime time South Korean dramas has been tight with two series vying for the top spot in various viewership charts. Recently, Ji Chang Wook's "Suspicious Partner" posted a higher viewership share among the 20 to 40-year-old viewer age group and even bested Yoo Seung Ho's historical series "Ruler: Master of the Mask."
Recently, the Ji Chang Wook starrer recorded its highest viewership share to-date, according to data from the 2049 ratings, as cited by Korean news outlet MBN. Aired on June 21, Wednesday, "Suspicious Partner" episodes 25 and 26 reached ratings of 5.2 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively. The said viewership share is higher than the drama's previous episode 23 that only registered viewership shares of 4.3 percent, while episode 24 posted ratings of 5.7 percent.
Given the viewership boost posted by "Suspicious Partner," Ji Chang Wook's drama recorded higher ratings than its competitor series "Ruler: Master of the Mask." Released on June 21, episodes 25 and 26 of Yoo Seung Ho's historical drama registered ratings of 4.1 percent and 4.9 percent, respectively. Moreover, the SBS romantic comedy suspense drama's viewership share was the highest among other TV shows and cable channel programs that aired in South Korea from June 19 and June 21.
The first-place ranking of Ji Chang Wook's "Suspicious Partner" marked the fourth consecutive week that the said drama topped the 2049 rating list among mid-week primetime series. Unlike other TV rating charts, the 2049 rating list also keeps track of viewership shares across other viewing platforms such as online streaming sites and social media.
Meanwhile, "Suspicious Partner" also reached double-digit TV ratings across the South Korean nation. The drama's episode 26 achieved a viewership share of 10.5 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. In the Seoul metropolitan area, Ji Chang Wook's romantic comedy suspense series recorded ratings of 11.7 percent.
"Suspicious Partner" and "Ruler: Master of the Mask" episodes are released every Wednesday and Thursday on SBS and MBC, respectively. Two 30-minute episodes are aired back-to-back during the said schedule.
