Rain Rejects Big Hollywood Comeback In Favor Of Korean Biopic
It could have been Rain's big Hollywood comeback. But Rain reportedly rejected a role for one of the "X-Men" films in favor of a role in a Korean biopic. This was revealed by actor Lee Beom Soo.
According to a report by Soompi, Lee Beom Soo shared that Rain was already cast in an upcoming X-Men movie but they were supposed to start filming this July. This coincided with the filming of Korean biopic Uhm Bok Dong which tells the story of a legendary cyclist from Korea who beat Japanese cyclists in a gritty cycling competition during the time of the Japanese occupation.
"Rain was actually cast in an X-Men movie. They asked him to start filming in July but the filming of 'Uhm Bok Dong' was supposed to last until the end of August, so he [stayed] with our movie," Lee Beom Soo said. "I was really thankful for his commitment."
It can be recalled that prior to his military enlistment, Rain was getting ready to launch his career in Hollywood as he starred in his debut movie "Ninja Assassin." Had Rain accepted the part in the "X-Men" franchise, he could have rebooted his Hollywood career and joined fellow actors Hyun Bin and Lee Joon Gi who are making a name for themselves with successful franchise appearances in films like "G.I. Joe" and "Resident Evil."
After the Rain completes the filming for "Uhm Bok Dong," he is expected to start work on his comeback album which he planning to release before the end of the year. While the "Full House" actor promised to deliver a unique flavor to his comeback, he shared that he is considering retiring from singing and dancing, Kpopstarz reported.
While Rain did not elaborate on his statement, he also did not say that he will be quitting music altogether. The Korean superstar is getting ready to welcome his first child with his wife, actress Kim Tae Hee this year.
