What Netizens Are Saying About T.O.P.’s Marijuana Scandal

After the whirlwind of events that led to Big Bang's T.O.P. admitting to smoking marijuana, the public had a lot to say about the issue. Initially, T.O.P. denied using the drug, but after much probing, the idol confessed, as confirmed by YG Entertainment, T.O.P.'s agency.

The company said in a statement, "First, we would like to convey our deepest sincerest apologies. After confirming details, Choi Seung Hyun (T.O.P) was in fact summoned for an investigation, under suspicion of smoking marijuana before his military enlistment. He has complied with the investigation and has admitted to most of his crimes and is deeply regretting his actions. We are sorry to worry so many people."

The police have also released a report regarding the investigation, saying, "T.O.P was summoned and questioned by the police, but since his charges were not proven, the fact that he is serving his enlistment in the police department has not been affected. This may change depending on the case." T.O.P. is set to enlist in the military this year, but who knows what changes may still occur after this marijuana incident.

Netizens weighed in on the scandal on different online forums and news portals. A variety of comments includes: "They need to summon all YG artists and test them," "Park Bom, G-Dragon now this. Doesn't this mean YG has a problem? Seems like this calls for a full investigation," and "Why is it that YG is always shown leniency. Other celebrities have their entire careers ruined by one mistake."

On the issue of a female trainee smoking marijuana with T.O.P., commenters had this to say: "Should have done it alone but he dragged a trainee in with him tsk tsk," and "Alone in his house with a girl high on marijuana, what they did is so obvious we don't even need to be told."

Netizens collectively scrutinized YG for not managing their artists better, as this isn't the first time their idols have been caught with drugs. Park Bom and G-Dragon have been previously questioned by police for possession of substances but netizens criticize the fact that the authorities continue to be lenient on the idols. What do you think of the latest marijuana-related scandal?
