Major torrent websites such as KickAss Torrents and Torrentz.eu have abruptly disappeared with the website owners officially confirming the news. However, this isn't the first time they have been banned. It has happened before as well, and the websites have managed to come back online. However, what has grabbed the viewer's attention are the endless clones and mirror websites that have cropped up ever since the websites have been banned.

A recent online report that after Torrentz.eu was taken down earlier last week; a website called 'ExtraTorrent.ag' immediately cropped up in its place. Upon logging on to the website, one is faced with a message that reads that 'ExtraTorrent.ag' is amongst the biggest BitTorrent systems and it is their goal to ensure that easy-to-use directory and search engines are provided to the torrent users. The website even allows the visitors to upload a torrent for others' use as well.

The report goes on to suggest how easy it is for anyone to believe that the 'ExtraTorrent.ag' is the original Torrentz.eu website due to the way it looks and feels. However, when observers this closely it is discovered that ExtraTorrent.ag is hosting other torrent files, and contains a different YTS.ag tag - which makes it easy to distinguish the fake and the original platforms.

Moreover, there are many other replicas of the website such as ExtraTorrent.cd that can easily be recognized as being rip-offs of the original website. It is advisable for the torrent websites to keep in mind that these aren't original websites and the information hasn't been officially confirmed by the website owners as yet.
