AMD Ryzen Release & News: Premium Whitehaven Processor With 16 Cores And 32 Threads Will Overtake Intel’s X299 and Skylake X
AMD Ryzen's premium Whitehaven processor has been spotted and it seems that the upcoming processor has the potential to beat Intel's X299 and Skylake X. AMD Ryzen's premium chips is going to feature 16 cores and 32 Threads which can easily overtake Intel's X299 only features 12 cores. The upcoming chipset is even expected to support DDR4 memory.
The company has decided to launch AMD Ryzen Whitehaven at its new S3 platform. The new high-end desktop platform is compatible for quad-channel DDR4 memory support and more storage when compared to AM4. The upcoming chip will also feature more PCle lanes.
AMD Ryzen Whitehaven has all the potential to overtake Intel X299 and Skylake X in many ways. Whitehaven offers more cores, threads and even offers L3 cache. The chip is combined with the commanding power efficiency lead that Ryzen has already established.
As per the reports of WccfTech, the 16-core high-end processor is on its way to displacing Intel's extreme edition processor from the performance throne that they have long held on to. Besides, AMD Ryzen Whitehaven will be the first CPU family from AMD to win the ultimate performance crown since the code-named "hammer" architecture overtook Intel's Pentiums 14 years ago.
AMD Ryzen Whitehaven was spotted several weeks ago and yesterday two additional chips have been surfaced. The upcoming chips will boost the clock speed of 3.6GHz and a base clock speed of 3.0Ghz. As per the leaks revealed by Video Cardz, both the chips have been designated the 2D3101A8UGAF4_36/31_N & 1D3101A8UGAF3_36/31_N device IDs.
The AMD Ryzen Whitehaven is considerably larger than the current Ryzen lineup and will not be compatible with AM4 due to this fact. And the pins will be on the socket rather than the CPUs, unlike current Ryzen chips. On the other hand, AMD's new CPU can be expected at Computex, world's largest PC and Hardware exhibition.
