Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 & 630 Release Date & Update: Gives Powerful Improvements To Mid-Range Devices
The Qualcomm unveiled new chipsets, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and the Snapdragon 630. These new chipsets is said build and design to improve mid-range smartphone devices.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and the Snapdragon 630 mobile processors are the updated version of the previous Snapdragon 653 and Snapdragon 625 respectively. And since these new processor chips are updated, we will expect that the mid-range smartphone device using these new hardwares will also improve the performance, especially in gaming aspects.
According to the reports, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 630 processor chipsets will come with Octa-core configuration. The 660 is also equipped with a powerful Adreno 512, an improved X12 LTE modem, Bluetooth 5, a Quick Charge 4 for charging purposes, and a USB Type-C with 3.1-speed compatibility.
The Snapdragon 630 variant, on the other hand, also offers an upgrade and great improvements. It also comes with ARM Cortex-A53 configuration as the previous version, however, it is clocked slightly higher at 2.2GHz, giving it at least 10% boost over the 625 model. Like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, the Snapdragon 630 also has a has Quick Charge 4, USB Type-C with 3.1 speeds, and Bluetooth 5.
Both of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and 630 processors chips include features and capabilities previously seen only in the premium 800-tier and LPDDR4 RAM support up to 8GB, which reduces power consumption and improves bandwidth compared to LPDDR3, says the source. The 660 sounds particularly compelling, it appears to deliver a very similar experience to the 2016 Snapdragon 820 but, presumably, at a lower price point.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and 630 are pin and software compatible, and both use the same 14nm LPP FinFET process from Samsung. The 660 variant is available to partners now and should appear in devices during the second quarter, while the 630 will become available at the end of May and is expected to appear in devices during the third quarter.
