The final render of the HTC U 11.

HTC's next-gen smartphone dubbed the HTC U 11 will soon be revealed after a substantial amount of alleged final renders and add-ons have been spilled to the public. With all the impressive specifications that have been made known, the company is said to have scrapped the idea of lodging a headphone jack into the upcoming flagship device of the Taiwanese tech firm.

The aforementioned 3.5mm audio jack is likely to be absent in the HTC U 11 and this has irked would-be and long-time users of the handset. However, quite a number of reports suggest that an adaptor will come alongside other accessories of the phone, according to PhoneArena.

HTC's banner device will be launched later than the usual penchant as it is believed that the scarcity of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 could be one of the main reasons why it got bogged down in the first place. It is very much evident now that the SoC is in stock as the official announcement of the HTC U 11 is slated this May 16.

Per the specs under its hood, the HTC U 11 will have a 5.5-inch quad HD display with a 1440x2560-pixel resolution. The device is set to arrive in two versions with varying amounts of RAM and storage. The base variant will sport 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage space while the top end iteration will boast an impressive 6GB of RAM and backed up with 128GB of free space. For those to who want expand its storage space may do so through a microSD card, GSMArena reported.

An interesting feature to watch out for with the HTC U 11 is the so-called Edge Sense. Reports suggest that HTC has embedded sensors into the frame of the handset enabling users to launch certain tasks through simple squeeze and swipe gestures. Moreover, the device is believed to be IP57 certified meaning that the upcoming phone will be both dust and water resistant at a certain amount of depth and time.
