iPhone 8 Latest News, Release Date: Wireless Charging Confirmed, 2018 Launching Pushing Through?
While recent reports about the iPhone 8 suggest a delay in launching, rumors are now speculating the upcoming Apple flagship will be even more delayed. Due to the immense difficulty in mass producing the said device, the Cupertino-based company will be moving its release in 2018 instead of late this year. Despite the additional waiting time, Apple is reportedly introducing its wireless charging technology to the iPhone 8.
According to several bank analysts from Deutsche Bank, the iPhone 8 will not be ready for release this year, Value Walk reported. The analysts pointed out that the shortage in the device's key components is one major reason why its launch is further pushed back.
The publication added that with no iPhone 8 this year, Apple will be focusing on launching the S versions of the iPhone 7 called, the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus, in September. The report further added that the packaging materials for the S iteration of the iPhone 7 will start arriving by end of June which signals that it is highly possible for an on-time launching in Autumn, at least for the S versions.
Though its official name is still up in the air, the upcoming iPhone has already been referred to as the iPhone 8, or the iPhone X. With the new iteration comes the expectation of significant upgrades both in software and hardware. The expectations for the iPhone 8 already included other rumored specs like an OLED display touching from end to end, and the removal of the physical home button.
Aside from these, upgrades like the introduction of wireless charging technology to the iPhone 8 also surfaced. In a note released by JPMorgan via CNBC, the institution mentioned that Broadcom will be the one supplying the wireless charging chip to Apple. However, it is unclear whether the chips supplied will be supporting Qi or PMA or both.
