AMD RX Vega: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti’s Rival, Here’s What It Will Pack
It was recently reported that the AMD RX Vega card showed on the Tech Power up GPU database, revealing that the card will boost a relative performance high enough to give a tough competition to Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti. While, the company has been rumored to debut it's next big product anytime soon, here's what can be expected from the same.
According to a report published by Trusted Reviews, the AMD RX Vega is expected to pack a base clock speed of 1GHz only rather than 1.2GHz, as was previously rumored. This comes across as a disappointment; as it appears like it is leveled slightly low, given the architecture that it is expected to power. Moreover, AMD's current 500-series of the card already packs a similar performance. Thus, it appears absurd to expect the users to switch to the former.
Another report published by PC Advisor, the AMD RX Vega is expected to pack an actual core configuration of 4.096 GCN cores along with 256 texture units and 64 ROPs. As for the memory, the card will probably offer 8GB HBM2 and will run on a 2,048-bit memory bus.
As noted by PCGamesn, the upcoming AMD Vega GPU is expected to pack the next-gen architecture. The company is working on the same, with the effort of launching it this year itself. It is widely believed that the AMD Vega GPU will probably also replace the R9 Fury cards that the company launched last year.
Separately, it has been reported that the company plans on launching its Polaris graphics cards soon. However, none of the above information has been confirmed by the company yet. Therefore, it is best that the users absorb the information with a grain of salt.
