AMD Vega Slated To Be Out on Quarter 2 of 2017; Alleged Leaked Teaser Goes Online
Both tech connoisseurs and high-end gamers alike have been waiting for Advanced Micro Device's (AMD) next generation graphics processing unit (GPU) known as Radeon RX Vega. It seems that tech buffs need not wait that long as it was revealed that the premium video cards will be arriving soon.
AMD's Radeon RX Vega GPU has been revealed to arrive anytime during the second quarter of the year. That being said, it is likely that the long-awaited graphics cards would go to fruition sometime in June. Moreover, a couple of big tech events will be happening on that month that further strengthen theories about a June reveal window - The Computex that will be hell in Taiwan and The Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
If the above-mentioned fits in the bag, the AMD Vega GPU is said to be pitted against NVIDIA's heavy hitters - the GTX 1080 Ti and the Titan XP, according to Droid Report. However, with the recent 3DMark results that have been making rounds online, the yet to be released AMD GPU might get clobbered by the aforementioned green beasts.
Per the result, the alleged Vega card that went under the moniker "Generic VGA" and paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 1800X processor, got a score of 5960 with a graphics and CPU score of 5721 and 7699 respectively. This may look disappointing to some, but such result is said to have rivaled NVIDIA's other GPU - the GTX 1070.
As of late, the specs of the AMD Radeon RX Vega is still undisclosed by the chipmaker. However, it is said that GPU will have the capability of rendering 11 polygons per clock cycle as compared to its predecessor - the R9 Fury X's that can only do four.
Additionally, the Radeon RX Vega will be equipped with 4,096 stream processor, 16GB of high-bandwidth memory generation 2 (HBM2), 4,096 of memory bus, and will boast a memory bandwidth of 512GB per second. AMD users are advised to take these with pinches of salt as the company hasn't released an official statement about its specifications.
