iMac 2017 is believed to be geared up by Apple as part of the company's plan to compete against the Microsoft Surface Studio, which was released in 2016. Despite having launched the MacBook Pro and the iPad Pro, reports claim that both have not been quite satisfactory. However, the tech giant seems to have more to offer yet, as rumors claim that the iMac 2017 is about to get its much-awaited refresh.

iMac 2017 Is Geared To Be The Most Powerful Desktop

The iMac is set to come with an array of amazing specs and features, although there has been no official word yet from Apple to confirm this. Nevertheless, reports suggest that Quanta Computers have been tasked to work on the new iMac 2017 beginning next month.

Meantime, the iMac 2017 may likely be launched in two models this year, with one set to exclusively cater for the pro users. According to reports, this model is going to be the most powerful desktop that is equipped with server-grade features. Meantime, the iMac 2017 iteration is expected to have a striking similarity with the screen sizes of the latest iMac models, which suggest that the device will come with 21.5-inch and 27-inch screen sizes.

iMac 2017, meantime, is also rumored to feature an NVMe SSD storage, which is capable of holding almost 2TB, and also an unnamed graphic card, including an equally powerful GPU. Incidentally, Apple has not released the details yet regarding the chip to be used, Apple Insider reported.

The New iMac 2017 Comes With Server-Grade Hardware

iMac 2017 is rumored to come with an ECC RAM designed to secure data from radioactive decay, cosmic rays and electrical interference. As for the other hardware, the device will reportedly have an Intel Xeon E3-1285 processor, a 2TB PCIe SSD and 16-64GB of RAM, suggesting a powerful hardware geared towards high-intensity workloads.

While there is no official announcement yet about the graphic units, there are speculations that Apple may likely use either Nvidia Quadro or AMD FirePro units, which are found in workstations, Tech reported. Check out Apple iMac 2017 Review & Specs here:
