Mobile World Congress - Day 2

HTC U Ocean is the successor of the beautiful yet underpowered HTC U Ultra, which was recently released. While Ultra failed to stand out, the new flagship is expected to come with a few surprising features.

HTC U Ocean Is Set To Redeem Predecessor's Shortcomings. The upcoming HTC U Ocean will have Edge Sense, which is a frame-embedded that allows users to control customizable movements with gestures. To make up for Ultra's lackluster performance, reports suggest that HTC U Ocean will come with a 5.5" QHD and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 microchip.

HTC U Ocean is also believed to have 64 to 128GB of internal memory expandable via a microSD, including a 16MP IMX351 selfie shooter and a 12MP Sony IMX362 rear camera. Moreover, the new mobile device will reportedly have Android 7.1 and Sense 9 UX skin. Meantime, Ultra's beautiful aesthetics is expected to be incorporated to the new HTC U Ocean.

According to reports, HTC U Ocean design takes cues from Ultra, with the phone's back emulating the glossy liquid surface glass. The front also appears similar, except for the secondary ticker display on the top. Given the rumored design and specs, it appears that HTC will get better with the upcoming HTC U Ocean, Android Guys reported.

HTC U Ocean Will Drop One Interesting Feature. HTC U Ocean seems to remove, or will not have one interesting feature that may disappoint some smartphone techies. According to reports, the new device will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack. Incidentally, HTC is believed to compensate the lack of it by coming up with audio features like USonic, which requires specialized USB-C headphones.

In the absence of a headphone jack, HTC U Ocean is rumored to have one of four mics that will provide audio recording a boost. Meanwhile, a bottom-facing speaker is also expected, which could further disappoint the audiophiles, Slash Gear reported.
