'Shooter' Season 2 Returns on July! Cast Welcomes Josh Stewart as New Regular
After being announced for another season this year, "Shooter" Season 2 was also revealed to be returning on July. Fans have to watch out for its new regular, Josh Stewart as he takes on the role of an assassin named Solotov who was previously connected to Bob Lee Swagger (Ryan Phillippe) during their Afghanistan mission .
Aside from "Shooter" Season 2, Stewart will also be starring in the fourth installment of "Insidious," Deadline reported. Previously, he was part of the cast of "War Machine," "The Finest Hours," and "Lewis and Clark." In the past years, the 40-year old actor also participated in films like "The Dark Knight Rises," "Transcendence," "The Collector" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."
"Shooter" is an adaptation of a 2007 film by Paramount Pictures starring Mark Wahlberg. Based on a novel by Stephen Hunter entitled, "Point of Impact," the USA Network drama series follows the story of Bob Lee Swagger who was a decorated Force Marine and whose expertise is sniping. Bob is aiming to save his family's name amidst the controversy he is facing.
The hit series first debuted in 2016 with 10 episodes. Before even premiering, "Shooter" underwent delays as its first airing was originally slated for July 2016 but was pushed further to November 2016. Its supposedly 10-episode season was also cut to half, having been only released 5 episodes last year.
In an interview with executive producer John Hlavin, he hinted that "Shooter" Season 2 may be more international in terms of filming locations as he revealed they will be shooting in Europe for some time. The showrunner also mentioned they will also be dealing with politics on a global perspective, USA Network reported.
Aside from Hlavin, producers of "Shooter" includes Wahlberg, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Stephen Levinson. For more information about "Shooter" Season 2, check out its teaser promo in the video below.
