Samsung Galaxy S8 Update: Key Feature Voice Assistant Bixby Will Not Come With The Device On Shipping Date
Samsung Galaxy S8 will arrive on April 21 along with its new mobile features. However, the South Korean Electronics company said that the anticipated Samsung's voice assistant, Bixby, won't ship with the handset device this month.
"The key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home and Reminder, will be available with the international launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 device on April 21, 2017." The company said in a statement. "Bixby Voice will be available in the US on the Galaxy S8 later this spring."
According to the reports, the Samsung will work on the Bixby until the two Samsung Galaxy S8 phones arrive in stores later this month, and even long after. Also, Samsung had even warned that the voice assistant Bixby might not come pre-installed on the Galaxy S8 devices, and possibly arriving later as a software update.
Also, Samsung Electronics had already hinted that the Bixby voice wouldn't be launching in full, originally, detailing that voice controls would be integrated into some key native apps with a limited number of languages being supported at launch. Tech Crunch noted.
The Samsung's voice assistant Bixby is the latest in the group of mobile AI or digital assistants. It joins Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, Google's Google Assistant and Microsoft's Cortana. Mobile giant manufacturers are investing in this new mobile assistant technology believing that this will be the future of how we will interact with our gadgets.
Although it is technically similar to the other companies' digital assistant, the Samsung Bixby is taking a different approach. Instead of answering the questions, Bixby will help you to control your device through voice command.
The Samsung refuse to spoke the reason why the voice assistant feature was being delayed. However, in demos for Axios, the new voice assistant Bixby failed to work properly.
