Chris Evans Says Robert Downey Jr Could Quit Marvel Soon
In one of Chris Evans’ recent interviews, the actor reveals Robert Downey Jr could be quitting as Ironman or Tony Stark in the future. Although the actor did not reveal how soon it can happen, avid fans are really sad about the news. This is after Chris Evans has been rumored to be the first one leaving the cast and as it turns out it could be Downey.
Evans said “Downey is far closer to reaching that point where he may walk away. And I don't know how you replace Downey as Tony Stark. I don't know who else can touch that.” Downey has been playing Iron Man since 2008 which is why it's not surprising if he has decided to say goodbye to the character according to reports. The good news is Downey will still be playing as Iron Man in a number of Marvel movies so fans will still see him for the last time.
It has already been revealed Iron Man will play a big part in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and the untitled Avengers fourth franchise. But once the two films are done, he is no longer has a contract that obliges him to come back as Iron Man so a decision has to be made. And based on what Evans said, Downey may not reprise his role as Iron Man.
In the interview with Evans, he also said it is almost impossible to find a replacement for Downey to play as Tony Stark. He did an incredible job in portraying Tony Stark that his acting brought a unique kind of charisma to the movie series. And because of that, many believes Marvel may not consider finding a replacement for Robert Downey Jr in the near future.
Based on reports, Downey’s last two movies may be the perfect farewell for Tony Stark since he plays like a senior mentor in the Spiderman movie while the fourth Avengers movie could be a way for Stark to say farewell and give way to younger heroes joining the team.
