A New Mac Pro is Coming!

For the first time since 2013, the Apple has updated the cylindrical standalone desktop, the Mac Pro. And according to them, they will re-think the machine before it can create a new version.

Phil Schiller, the Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, reportedly conduct a meeting discussing the Mac Pro and acknowledging that the desktop they introduced in 2013 has run aground on the cleverness of its own design.

The Mac Pro really have a weird design compared to the usual desktop CPU we see today. As the Apple noted, it's weird designs caused the limited upgradability of the machine, pushing them to reset and re-think appropriate design. According to the Mirror report, the rubbish-bin style design of the Mac Pro and the way development of graphic chips has progressed is one of the reasons for the lack of a serious update.

"The Apple designed the system with the kind of GPUs that at the time we thought we needed, and that we thought we could well serve with a two GPU architecture. That was the thermal limit the company needed or the thermal capacity we needed." Apple explanation about the Mac Pro. "But workloads didn't materialize to fit that as broadly as we hoped. Being able to put larger single GPUs required a different system design and more thermal capacity than that system was designed to accommodate."

For the past years, users criticized the Mac Pro for the lack of update. Now, that's a new Mac Pro is coming, they can only hope that it will not take the same fate with its predecessor. In addition, Apple also said that the new desktop is not coming this year, and it's still unclear if it will release next year or in 2019.
