Korea Leads Construction Of Smart City In Kuwait
Korea is reportedly leading the development and construction of a smart city in Kuwait. This plan and if ever completed in the near future will be three times bigger than the smart city which is located in Gyeonggi Province. This is also considered by many as one of Korea's key satellite cities.
According to Korea Times, Kuwait suggested that Korea will be the one which will head in the creation of the said new city plan for the country. This partnership of the two Asian countries has been planned and fixed during the Korea-Kuwait summit held last 2015. With this new venture, Korea has been recognized again as the country which could build and develop new and innovative mega-cities.
To start this mega-city project, the Korea Land and Housing Corporation or the LH signed a deal and a contract together with Kuwait's housing and welfare ministry. As mentioned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport last Monday, this smart city construction is headed to its goal of managing and developing the South Saad Al-Abdullah New City in the said Middle East country. This will not only give rise to an innovative mega-city, but this is also expected to develop a partnership between the two nations.
Apart from those mentioned benefits and gains, this South Saad Al-Abduallah New City project is also expected to help perhaps 25,000 households as they can take advantage from the homes it shall offer them. The project and the building of this smart city started with the initiative of the LH. It has been reported that they sent experts and specialists. These people are tasked to assess the site where the mega city will be built. After examining the site, they will already come up with the master plan as well as the design of the structure. After these, the LH, as well as those, involve in the project will be ready to construct a smart city that will be connected using smart devices and tools.
Some reports are also claiming that the land ministry of Korea is also looking for ways to develop some of their projects abroad. That's why when they saw the opportunity with Kuwait, they immediately initiated the said partnership and promised to take part efficiently in the said deal. Another group composed of Korean urban architects will also assist in the said project.
Kuwait is slowly realizing its plan to come up with a global city that will set the standard among all the smart cities. With the help and aid from Korea, the said Middle East country has also a goal of building the first environment-friendly city in the Middle REast region. And as per Asia Times, this project will also be of big help to some Korean construction firms as this will lead them to varied and suitable opportunities.
With the forging of contracts until the development of the master plan of the smart city, the said construction is said to start in the year 2019. This only proves that despite the political turmoil the country is facing at the moment, Korea can still be exemplary in terms of extending innovative services overseas.
