Soong Joong-Ki Returns To The Big Screen After 5 Years; Receives Recognition At 29th Korea Producer Awards
Soong Joong-Ki returns to the big screen via "Battleship Island." Kim Soo-an and Hwang Jung-min will be among the actor's co-stars in the new historical drama movie.
Soong Joong-Ki Makes His Second Film Since 2012
"Battleship Island" is Joong-ki's second film since 2012. His last films in which he starred include "Pennu Pinchers" in 2011 and "A Werewolf Boy" in 2012. Meantime, his TV series include "The Innocent Man" in 2012 before taking a break from 2013 to 2015 and returned in 2016 for the role of Yoo Shi-jin in "Descendants of the Sun" alongside Hye Kyo.
Soong Joong-Ki's co-star Hye Kyo, meanwhile, also returns to the big screen in the movie 'Ships Passing in the Night.' Incidentally, her last movies she starred include the 2014 drama "The Cross" with Zhang Ziyi and Takeshi Kaneshiro, as well as the 2015 romantic movie "The Queens" alongside Qin Hao, Anne Yi, Vivian Wu, Joe Cheng, Joe Chen, Shawn Dou and Tony Yang. Meantime, reports suggest that Joong Ki and Hye Kyo may not be reunited in "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. However, both can be seen on the big screen soon, The Jakarta Post reported.
Song Joong-Ki Receives Award At The 29th Korea Producer Awards
Song Joong-Ki has been awarded for his influence and success during the 29th Korea Producer Awards on March 17 held at the SBS Open Hall in Deungchon, Seoul. Reports indicate that the award-giving body is run by the Korean Producers and Directors' Association and that winners are chosen by the directors through voting, while the awards are given out to the winner in each of the categories.
According to reports, Song Joong Ki bagged the award in the acting category for his role as Captain Yoo Si Jin in the hit KBS drama, "Descendants of the Sun," after getting almost all the directors' votes.
