'Star Wars Battlefront 2' Officially Announced; Rumored To Be A Darker Game Sequel
Gamers from the galaxy far, far away are now hyperdrive mode as Electronic Arts (EA) announced the sequel for 2015's "Star Wars Battlefront" - "Star Wars Battlefront 2." It is now expected that further details about the game will be divulged to fans during the upcoming Star Wars Celebration to be held in Orlando, Florida.
"Star Wars Battlefront 2" has been hinted as early as 2015 when the original title was released. Moreover, the titles of the two above-mentioned games are not to be mistaken with the "Star Wars Battlefront" series that went out in mid-2000 that were developed by Pandemic Studios.
As aforementioned, the upcoming game's sizzler trailer will be shown to Star Wars Celebration attendees on Saturday, April 15, but for those who will not make it at the event can still witness the unveiling of the game as it was also announced that it will be live streamed. Additionally, the panel for "Star Wars Battlefront 2" will consist of the game's development roster from EA's three gaming arms namely EA DICE, Motive, and Criterion, Polygon has learned.
"Star Wars Battlefront 2" is believed to be released in fall 2017, though some reports suggest that it will be filling the shelves during the Holidays. The latter seems to be a logical release window since the franchise's upcoming film - "Star Wars The Last Jedi" will be out during that period. Furthermore, it is also expected that the game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms, WCCFTech reported.
That said, fans speculate that the next "Star Wars Battlefront" title will be a lot mature and grittier that its predecessor. The player base of the game thought of such due to the fact that the recent standalone film - "Rogue One" went on to become a box-office success albeit being darkly themed not to mention its sad ending.
