Samsung Kill Remaining Note 7 Thru Software Update; Shutting Off Access To Networks Already Implemented In Some Countries
The South Korean giant electronics company will finally shut down the faulty Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones. The company announced this memorandum last week and before this month ends, they will take their final step to permanently close the said handset.
According to Samsung Electronics, they will disable all remaining Samsung Galaxy Note 7 products in the market thru launching a mandatory software update that will limit the devices from being charged. As noted by the South Korean news site, Yonhapnews, the latest software update will completely prevent users from using the handset.
After the reaming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices updated the software, it will no longer be able to switch on unless it is plugged in. Before 2016 ended and in early 2017, the Samsung Electronics and its carrier partners, launched similar software update in the US, also shutting off access to networks are already implemented in some countries. Now, in the new update, the company targets the remaining unclaimed devices that might still be in use in several markets.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was released last year, August 19, 2016, and after the reports of exploding batteries, on October 11, 2016, the Samsung company recall all the sold devices all over the world to prevent more damages. According to the reports, the Note 7 exploded while it is charging, there are also some witnesses said that other similar devices also exploding even it is not connected to any charger, causing property damages and physical injuries to the users.
There are over 1 Million Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices sold in 2016 before the global recall occur. Samsung Electronics noted that 97% of the sold units have been reclaimed and return, so, there are still 7% or over 70,000 devices are still waiting to return to the company.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be gone; however, a new device will also release next month. Samsung will introduce the most anticipated Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus this week and will officially launch in April.
