"The Big Bang Theory" fans have reason to celebrate as CBS has just confirmed the renewal of the series for two seasons. To put it simply, the nerdy comedy sitcom will continue to entertain fans till 2019.

However, the renewal of the show comes at a heavy price, at least for some actors. For a long time, the fate of the show was uncertain. Actors were reportedly demanding a pay hike which the producers were yet to confirm. So what went wrong and why did they take a pay cut?

Earlier during the week, on Monday, CBS confirmed that the sitcom would be on until season 12 at least. This news comes as quite a surprise as CBS also officially confirmed "Young Sheldon", the spin-off of the series.

Why did the pay cut happen?

Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik, the two actors who work on the series were reportedly underpaid. In order to allow the producers to give them a handsome hike, the five leading actors decided to take a pay cut on their salary.

The Paycut

The five main actors reportedly earn almost $500,000 per episode, AMP reports. Since 2010 "The Big Bang Theory" has been the most viewed sitcom. The series has to its credit various awards and nominations. The spin-off confirmed by CBS has also garnered quite a hype.

As a now, stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar have confirmed to be a part of the series. The five leading stars have reportedly freed up 500,000 dollars, as reported by BBC.

This money will be used to give Rauch and Bialik the hike that they want. However, the contracts with these actors are still under negotiation.

As of now, fans have reason to rejoice as series renewal has been confirmed right until 2019. Fans also have a new spin-off to look forward to with "Young Sheldon" being confirmed by CBS.
