The extraterrestrial humanoids known as the Na'vi were introduced in "Avatar" in 2009.

Faithfuls who have been anticipating the follow-up to 2009's top grossing sci-fi epic - "Avatar" will be frustrated for the nth time as its sequel - that is expected to be entitled "Avatar 2," has been bogged down. Director James Cameron broke the bad news and the supposed 2018 schedule will not be met.

The Star got the chance to talk to Cameron about the current lowdown of the film installment as the above-mentioned 2018 release was announced previously. However, the "Titanic" director revealed to the publication that "2018 is not happening" and added that they have not yet announced a definite playdate for "Avatar 2."

Cameron also highlighted that it is not just "Avatar 2" that they are making as it was also revealed in the past that the other three film installments will be filmed consecutively. He then pointed out that such project will be a massive endeavor to embark on and even compared it to China's Three Gorges Dam.

Furthermore, the director hinted about the creatures that they are about to introduce in "Avatar 2." Nonetheless, as much as he wants to divulge such details to the publication, he mentioned that he would rather keep it under wraps "to preserve a certain amount of showmanship" and they will disclose it when the time is right.

In the interim, if the 2018 release window was to be followed, a barrage of "Avatar" sequels are slated to be out in the years 2020, 2022, and 2023. In addition, Cameron had been hinting that he intends to shoot all four film sequels since December 2016, according to NY Daily News.

Most of the fans are pretty much acquainted to rumor mills that "Avatar 2" will showcase one of Pandora's moons and the planet's vast ocean. Also, it was announced back then that the next film will be a continuation of the events that transpired in the first film. Watch a news clip about "Avatar 2's" delay here:
