'Goblin' Actor Lee Dong Wook Responds To Reports On How He Landed Grim Reaper Role

'Goblin' Actor Lee Dong Wook On Being Chosen To Play Grim Reaper

"Goblin" actor Lee Dong Wook played one of the most iconic roles in tvN's top-rated series and there have been some reports on how he got to play Grim Reaper. He sat down for a quick interview after his shooting for Arena Homme Plus. He went on to clarify the details on how he was chosen to play Grim Reaper in Kim Eun Sook's drama.

Lee Dong Wook did not beat around the bush when he clarified the process on how he got the part in the drama. He explained that he read a story detailing how he bagged the role and he was upset since some details were incorrect. He admitted that he reached out to "Goblin" series creator Kim Eun Sook before the synopsis for the drama came out. In fact, Gong Yoo was not confirmed to be the lead in the series when he contacted the writer. He further explained that the writer did not have anyone else in mind to play the role of Grim Reaper. He recalled the writer reached out to him to apologize for the article.

Lee Dong Wook also detailed that he had an offer to take a role in a different drama and the said show did well too. He explained why he was interested in playing the role of Grim Reaper in "Goblin." "But for me, even though it was only in the developing stages, the grim reaper seemed like a very attractive character. The storyline, fantasy genre, the setting of a goblin and grim reaper living together, playing double roles, and everything else about the drama was great." Lee Dong Wook is currently preparing for a series of fan meetings in Asia and the lovable Grim Reaper whom everyone adored in tvN's "Goblin" is in the process of choosing his next project.
