NBA Trade Rumors: Orlando Magic Trading For Reggie Jackson, A Huge Investment!
Most NBA fans can already smell the Feb. 23 deadline but until now, most teams are still positioning themselves for this year's trade season that would benefit their roster. That said, the Orlando Magic were eyed discussing with the Detroit Pistons for an apparent trade that involves Reggie Jackson.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the said deal will require Orlando Magic to send the two players, D.J. Augustin and Jeff Green to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Reggie Jackson. Although there are still no confirmations about the said deal, team magic was rumored to show interest in Jackson just recently, assuming that Magic will definitely make a move. However, Orlando Magic Daily reported that firstly, the expected move will not work salary-wise. Or else, Piston will have to bring another player to make the deal work. There might be proposed possibilities of tagging center Arron Baynes or Boban Marjanovic.
Looking at it, the trade seems like a huge win for Orlando Magic fans as Jeff Green has not really excelled this season and the same thing goes with D.J. Augustin. Furthermore, Augustin still needs to complete three more years with his agreement.
Last season, Orlando Magic and Detroit Piston have also made the same move, with Tobias Harris from Magic being traded with Piston's players - Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. Both Jennings and Ilyasova have expiring contracts.
Meanwhile, despite being an instant upgrade at point guard for Orlando Magic, Reggie Jackson was not really playing for this season's contract. This is because of the unfavorable knee surgery that happened during the early season. But who knows, a change of scenery might bring him back to shape.
So far, Jackson's average is about 15.6 points per game for this season, with 5.6 assists each game, and a 52.3 true shooting rate in over 30 of his games.
