'Prison Break' Season 5 News And Updates: Dominic Purcell Reveals How The Revival Came About After Working With Wentworth Miller On 'The Flash'

Just a few weeks after footage of the upcoming "Prison Break" season five was released, a new poster was also brought into the world of fans highly anticipating the series' return. The two stars of the show spilled out some beans of the upcoming revival, and how it came about.

According to the actors, the revival of "Prison Break" and continue to its season five was led by Netflix and "The Flash." Both Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell worked at CW's hit series, "The Flash" and when they got to have episodes together, they got to talk about their time during "Prison Break." According to Purcell, the next thing he knew, he and Miller were already talking about the revival to FOX. Since then, green-lighting the idea came very quick since fans of the series also never lost hope in seeing their favourite characters back on television again. If they hadn't been cast on the superhero series together, the revival might not be happening as fast as it is now.

Netflix played a big part in bringing to life "Prison Break" season five since based on their statistics, the previous seasons of the series belong to the list of the top most-watched shows on the network. The interest of old and new fans alike on the series has brought so much color to its upcoming revival despite it ending a couple of years ago. As it was announced a couple of months back, the upcoming season will feature nine episodes with one composed of two episodes merged into one. This is due to a conflict in the schedule of the actors involved thus taping it would need to be done simultaneously.

Most of the original cast of the past few seasons are set to return for the revival on "Prison Break" season five. The upcoming season will tackle all the holes left during the season four finale a couple of years back, including how Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) could have made it alive. Thus, there are many aspects to the storyline that are to be anticipated for in the upcoming revival.

"Prison Break" seaosn five will be released on April 4, 2017.
