There have been speculations and reports going around claiming that actor/director Mel Gibson is taking into consideration directing the upcoming "Suicide Squad 2," a film from DC Extended Universe.

Reports have claimed that actor/director Mel Gibson is being courted by Warner Bros. into joining the DC Extended Universe. There have reportedly been early talks in Gibson directing the upcoming sequel to the anti-hero movie of last year, to be entitled "Suicide Squad 2." He has reportedly been familiarizing himself with the upcoming film, but there hasn't been any confirmation on it. However, Gibson may not be the only one on their radar for directing the upcoming sequel, including Daniel Espinosa.

The reason that Warner Bros. is now eyeing for a new director is that the director of the first film, David Ayer, is currently developing the upcoming "Gotham City Sirens." It will give more focus on the female villains of the DC Universe. Despite the hurdles that the first "Suicide Squad" film has encountered, it still managed to earn enough to make the sequel to the film on a fast track. Since the film talked about the story of villains who were forced into the service of the government in exchange for their freedom, the upcoming sequel will tell the story of their lives right after getting just what they took that job for.

It has been reported that Gibson being lured by the network to direct the upcoming film shows a positive sign even for the actor/director himself. After his image went on a downfall in the year 2000 when he made anti-Semitic comments and the drunk driving arrest, having been assigned with one of the greatest and sought out films in this generation will definitely do him a lot of good. There is no telling whether or not Gibson joining the DC Extended Universe would take away all the bias and negativity against it, but the network believes it might just be what they need after all. For now, any confirmation from Gibson or his party is still being waited upon.
