Jun Ji Hyun Didn’t Worry about Makeup and Looking Pretty for “Assassination”
Internationally acclaimed Jun Ji Hyun (also known as Gianna Jun) said she wasn't anxious about her looks while filming "Assassination". What she wanted though was to look the part - an assassin during Japanese colonial era in Korea.
According to her, being a convincing killer was more important than looking pretty. In fact, she cut her hair for the role. "It's like people already know what I look like so I don't try to look pretty any more", she said.
Then again, the actress didn't have to wear makeup because her character didn't need it. It even took her less than 10 minutes to prepare for filming, which wasn't the case for her male co-stars. They had to apply makeup and mustaches, requiring longer preparation.
Not feeling anxious about her looks comes from the fact that she has beautiful skin. She owes it to practical health routines like practicing yoga, jogging and drinking lots of water every day. She also follows meticulous regimens at night - washing her face, stretching and meditating.
She's known for being self-disciplined, and this behavior is exactly the reason that makes her a convincing actress. Of course, she also gets into character, no matter the role. As a sniper in "Assassination", she learned to shoot. She also went as far as bringing home model guns to feel more at ease and natural with these.
Jun Ji Hyun has starred in other action films, including "Blood: The Last Vampire" and "The Thieves". She's a versatile actress and has been in movies and TV series of various genres, such as romantic comedy and horror. She's mostly known for "My Sassy Girl" and "My Love from the Star". Who knows what's next for her, but it'll definitely involve being a mother because she's expecting her first child with non-celebrity husband Choi Joon Hyuk.
"Assassination", which is directed by Choi Dong Hoon and produced by Caper Films, has premiered today. It also stars Ha Jung Woo and Lee Jung Jae. Check out this teaser with English subtitle.
