A few days ago, Valve released its Lunar event for Dota 2 dubbed the "Dark Moon" along with the Winter Battle Pass. The mechanics of the game is very simple: survive the last stand against waves of enemies until you reach and beat the big boss at level 15. Simple as it may sound but the enemies in each level are very difficult to kill. Fortunately, there are few tips and tricks to survive the game and avert the Dark Moon.
Heroes To Pick In The Dark Moon
A team of five should have a good combination of heroes for this game. The best heroes to pick and should always be in the team are Disruptor for silence and area damage over time, Wintern Wyvern for level bosses, Phantom Assassin and Sniper as hitters, and Underlord being a tank. You can pick other heroes as a substitute for Templar and Sniper like Medusa, or you can pick Zeus in substitute for Disruptor but be sure that your team has one hero for each role.
The Piñata Chickens
The Piñata Chickens will drop gold every attack. The reason why it's good to have Disruptor in the team is it damage over time and its disabling ability as well as Underlord. You need to take as much gold as you can to buy necessary items to survive in the next levels.
Take Aim To Killing Bosses; Mirana, Alchemist, Techies,
Most of the levels in the game have bosses. Always prioritize killing the bosses to minimize the creep waves. If you're playing Disruptor or Underlord, always keep a distance from the team when enemy Enigma appears. Once Enigma casts his ult, use Disruptor's silence or Underlord's disable to stop the Blackhole. Wintern Wyvern also makes big contribution to killing the level bosses. All enemy heroes abide by the rule of Dota so you can silence them, disable them, etc., aside from the Big Boss.
How To Kill Invoker at Level 15 in the Dark Moon
Invoker is the main boss you have to beat in the last stage of the Dark Moon. Invoker does not abide by any rules in Dota and will cast skills even is he's silenced or disable. The two key items to kill Invoker are Bloodthorn and Black King Bar. Also, buy a lot of sentries to keep vision. However, the easiest step to kill Invoker is by playing Techies, stack a gazillion of bombs in an area then lure Invoker to the spot and detonate the bomb.
The Dark Moon game is definitely difficult to beat but it is not impossible. The main key to complete the game is teamwork. No matter how knowledgeable you are with tricks, you cannot make it to the highest level without good communication with your teammates. The Dark Moon runs up to February which offers you unique rewards and items.
